The Organization

Aztec Shops, Ltd., founded in 1931, is a non-profit corporation that functions primarily as an auxiliary of San Diego State University. The corporation provides a diverse portfolio of products and services including operation of the SDSU Bookstore, SDSU Dining, and Commercial and Real Estate properties surrounding campus. Aztec Shops also operates other selected enterprises at San Diego State and in San Diego.

Aztec Shops is comprised of the following three primary divisions:


Campus Stores:

  • SDSU Bookstore (main campus)
  • shopaztecs.com (The SDSU Bookstore online channel)
  • Montezuma Publishing (thesis and dissertation services and custom course materials)
  • The Aztec Store at Imperial Valley (IVC)
  • Gameday on-site spirit stores at Snapdragon Stadium, Viejas Arena, and Tony Gwynn Stadium

The SDSU Bookstore is the flagship of Aztec Shops’ retail operations and is one of the largest campus stores in the country. The 25,000-square-foot facility – located in the heart of campus – carries required and optional course materials for all SDSU classes. Course materials – provided through the Day1Ready program for undergraduate students and the Immediate Access program for graduate students – are available in a digital-first format. For titles that are not available digitally, print textbooks are made available. The SDSU Bookstore – and its digital store shopaztecs.com – features the largest selection of officially licensed SDSU clothing and gifts. Its aztecnology department offers academic discounts on Apple and PC products as well as a wide array of services, including tech financing, trade-in / trade-up, device repair at the tecbar, and computer guide by major. Also available in-store are the latest trends in fashion, school supplies and all official regalia and graduation items.

Dining:

SDSU Dining has been providing quality food service to the SDSU community since 1959, proudly featuring over 35 locations offering countless items to choose from, including vegan, gluten-friendly and many other healthy and inclusive options. Students with specific diet preferences are encouraged to contact the Dining office to schedule a consultation with our full-time registered dietitian to curate a daily menu plan. Dining’s owned-and-operated campus eateries include the Garden Restaurant at Cuicacalli Suites, University Towers Kitchen (UTK), six Aztec Market convenience stores, the Faculty-Staff Club, SDSU Catering and three third-party licensed Starbucks locations campuswide. SDSU Dining also features third-party owned-and-operated local, regional and national brands, including: Panda Express, Halal Shack, Baba’s Pizza, Jamal’s Chicken, Rubio’s Coastal Grill, Subway, Big City Bagels, Olive Oil Cafe, The Habit Burger Grill, Oggi’s Pizza Express, Eureka, Which Wich, Sushi One n Half, Everbowl, Epic Wings N’ Things, Primos Mexican Food, Carbonaro’s, Plant Power, Shake Smart, the Farmers’ Market, and Trader Joe’s (non-Meal Plan). SDSU Dining also oversees all food-and-beverage service for live events at Viejas Arena, Cal Coast Credit Union Open Air Theatre, Tony Gwynn Stadium, SDSU Softball Stadium, SDSU Sports Deck, Peterson Gym, and Snapdragon Stadium at SDSU Mission Valley.
