Our Organization
Aztec Shops, Ltd., founded in 1931, is a non-profit corporation that functions as an auxiliary of San Diego State University. As a “self-sustaining” non-profit SDSU auxiliary, Aztec Shops operates without subsidy from the University or the State. The corporation manages a diverse portfolio of services including operation of SDSU Campus Stores, SDSU Dining, SDSU Conference Services, SDSU Licensing, and Commercial and Residential Real Estate properties surrounding campus.

Aztec Shops, Ltd., strives to advance the priorities of San Diego State University and enhance the quality, affordability, and accessibility of every student’s educational experience and success. Aztec Shops is a leader in inclusive, sustainable and innovative practices and is responsive to the SDSU community, contributing strategically and financially for the greater good of the University, its students and student programs.

SDSU Dining: operates and oversees close to 50 restaurants and food service outlets on the San Diego campus including the Faculty-Staff Club, Residential Dining, quick-service restaurants of local, regional and national brands, seven Aztec Market convenience stores, and three Starbucks locations campus-wide. SDSU Dining is the largest student employer on campus with over 700 students working at our self-operated facilities each year.

SDSU Concessions: operates all concessions for concerts, special events, sporting activities and conferences and will operate concessions at the new multipurpose Snapdragon Stadium in Mission Valley.

SDSU Catering
SDSU Catering: provides award winning culinary experiences for over 3,000 annual events on the SDSU campuses and will offer catering at the new Snapdragon Stadium in Mission Valley. Creating unique dining experiences from two people to large extravaganzas for thousands of guests, SDSU Catering has been providing fresh and delicious food, creative and personalized menu ideas, and excellent customer service to the campus community and alums for over 30 years.

Campus Stores: The Campus Stores Division is the designated retailer for the University as well as providing other services to the University and other college campuses around the country. The division includes The SDSU Bookstore, which is the largest retail operation in the Campus Stores Division, Game-day onsite spirit shops at Snapdragon Stadium, Viejas Arena, and Tony Gwynn Stadium, and The Aztec Store, located at the SDSU Imperial Valley Campus. The Campus Stores division also provides course materials to the SDSU Georgia campus.

Montezuma Publishing: A recognized leader in the custom course reader market for over 35 years serving the community of San Diego State University. In addition to SDSU, Montezuma Publishing works with many other colleges and universities in developing custom course readers. The publishing group also supports graduate students at SDSU and Joint Universities with thesis and dissertation services.

Marketing & Communications: Supports not only Aztec Shops but also partners with the University in developing marketing and communication campaigns with our Graphic Design staff.
